Vas Deferens

Definition - What does Vas Deferens mean?

The vas deferens is a component of a man’s sexual reproductive system essential to the transportation of sperm. The vas deferens attaches the testes with the urethra, transferring the sperm from it’s point of development to the area of ejaculation. Any condition or problem with the vas deferens may lead to male factor infertility.

The vas deferens may be called the deferent duct or the ductus deferens.

FertilitySmarts explains Vas Deferens

The vas deferens is a long, thick tube that runs from a man's scrotum to the abdomen. At one end the vas deferens is attached to the epididymis, at the other, the urethra, joining together at the base of the bladder. After leaving the vas deferens, the sperm travels via the urethra and is expelled from the penis during ejaculation.
